Opening doors to her clients’ new homes may be second nature for Realtor and Sandy Springs resident Winter Baserva, but as a result of appearing on HGTV’s nationally televised cable show “House Hunters,” the tables have turned.
“This has opened the door for other television opportunities. I’ve been contacted about other shows,” Ms. Baserva said about the 30-minute “Pampered Pooch in Atlanta” episode which debuted last week before an estimated 5 million viewers and will air again March 1 at 9 p.m. and midnight.
While the 31-year-old former child actress and model took 10-hour taping days in her stride, Ms. Baserva said she doesn’t see herself abandoning the clients or the career that she loves.
“I’m not looking to do my own show. I work too many hours a day to fit in camera time,” she said. “I love to help my clients buy and sell homes.”
In fact, Ms. Baserva was surprised to see the amount of screen time she received in the final cut, in which Brookhaven residents Kelly and Brian Wolk and their dog, Winnie, traded up from their one-bedroom condominium to a $443,000, two-story modern residence.
“It’s not about the agents; it’s about the buyers,” she said.
Ms. Baserva said she knew the Wolks would be the perfect couple for the episode because of the challenges of selling their condo during a recession — a period in which she has thrived.
“I sold 38 homes — I showed 400 — got my first office, three buyers’ agents, an assistant, a team and a national TV show,” she said. “People say it’s the worst economy in history, but I disagree, when you have the right focus, a plan and the energy to execute it.”
Ms. Baserva said she was pleased with the way High Noon Entertainment and producer Christy Kruzick planned and executed their four-day shoot in September.
“They allowed me to be the professional I am and did a great job of showcasing my talent, but also keeping the focus on what was important, which was Kelly and Brian,” she said.
Other important buyers and sellers include Ed Dawson, who, like the Ms. Kruzick, found Ms. Baserva last year online at her Web site, www.onewinter.biz.
“The house I had in Alpharetta was expected to sell in six months. We got a contract in a month, in a down market, during a seasonal downturn as well as a recession,” Dawson said.
